
Panda giteLocated in our department and outside any National Park, this property has been inspected by a representative of the WWF (World Wildlife fund) Its owner in keen to preserve its natural environment and to run the gite on an eco friendly basis (renewable energy, sorting/recycling rubbish, etc...) Guidebooks and other documentation are supplied to help guests explore the natural heritage of the locality during their stay, as well as full details of walks and wildlife observation possibilities in the area.The Gîte du Cheval de Renfort stands in open countryside and has been inspected by the WWF (World Wildlife Fund). Its wonderful setting is the lovely Thiérache 'bocage' (a region of rolling, hedge-trimmed meadows) in the Aisne department. The owners, Jean-Marie and Nicole, will happily share their love for this region and help you explore and observe the natural world around the gîte: orchard, garden, vegetable plot, plants and wildlife which were once so abundant. Jean-Marie is also keen to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle: composting, low energy consumption, etc. He will be happy to advise on the many walking/riding trails nearby.
And Baby comes too…Some 'gîtes ruraux' and Charmance guesthouses are specially equipped for babies. Don't hesitate to contact the owner for more detailed information.Set off from the gîte on the lovely "Thiérache vue d'Ohis" walk (2.5 km), by the river Oise along the 'Axe vert', a old railway line converted to a walking/riding track. Your host, Monsieur Gérard, can provide rucksacks, binoculars, plastic plates, etc., so you can enjoy a leisurely riverside picnic, observing the beautiful plant and wildlife. Bike/mountain bike outings/expeditionsIf you love cycle trips and longer expeditions, the Aisne is the place for you, with great tracks and lovely scenery. Whether you have a bike or mountain bike, you will find accommodation specially adapted for cyclists. Don't hesitate to contact the owner for more detailed information.Leaving from the gîte, cycle through the Thiérache, known as 'Little Normandy'. Why not try the "Entre l'Oise et le Thon" route (66km) along the river Oise and through the lovely Thon valley? Back at the gîte you can clean your bike, if necessary, then leave it in the specially designed bike shed.
